The U.S. in the zombie wars

It was all hushed. Only rumors. The disease was in Africa, but what more could it be? It had to be a strange strand of rabies or something. Nobody in North America knew too much, but it was rumored that China was locking down, as North Korea had already closed its gates at the DMZ. When the first reports of this.... this..... atrocity reached Alaska and Canada, likely through the Bering Strait, from Russia did people actually become scared. It was a war against somebody who didn't feel, didn't think, had no remorse, could not be negotiated. This was not a war about peace, no. This was not a war for democracy, nor a war for blood or oil. America was unprepared. With free thinking being promoted, and with advertisements spread around that a rabies shot would prevent the disease, it's not a shocker that America fell as fast as it did. Within a month of the first reports slamming along the Canadian border from Washington to Maine, the United States fell. Immediately before the initial invasion, the army was pulled back to various bases along the coasts. Normally, this would be a good thing, but had congress not been dealing with the turmoil caused by leaving the middle east, and of the Economy. What a joke. But, you can't blame them. They didn't know that in a week nobody would be buying, they would be looting. They didn't know that in 2 there would be no economy. They didn't know that in 3 there would be a drastic shift, similar to FDR's rationing system. They didn't know that at the last step, one month, the government would be pushed west, past the rockies, with only a small fraction of the population and the Army. We could have prevented so much death, so much agony, but those bigheaded fools in the big offices wanted to prove to Americans that they had everything under control. As a result of this decision, they set a line of military operations, all failed. They wanted to show our biggest, baddest, most technological weapons. The weight of armoring all of our troops with top of the line, the waste of useless weapons.... the economy collapsed in a very short time. So much spent on mines. Didn't they realize that mines aren't for killing? no, of course not. Mines, as you may not know, are meant to cripple the enemy, weakening morale and to have them waste resources to keep them alive. Instead of a crushed army, we had legions of the Zombies crawling around. Incineration weapons? We even pulled out our stocks of Napalm, back from the sixties. Instead of burnt soldiers, we have flaming undead, slowly shuffling unflinching as the fire burned them. These weapons had incredibly low mortality rates on the damned. No, our biggest mistake was not from our military decisions. We ignored warnings. We had a good half of a year to get ready, but we payed no heed to the east. Not even a proposed paper, by some Muslim genius, with tips and strategies for the war effort was even looked at by any officials.
